I can’t believe it’s already been a month and a half since our newest addition arrived at Octane Acres. Seger Michael was born on October 22nd at 10:29AM and weighed 9 pounds 12 ounces. He completes our little family!

For those who have asked about his name, yes, he is named after Bob Seger. We came up with the name when we were expecting Eliza, but I thought it was a little to masculine for her. I’ve always been a fan of Bob, and when Derrik and I had an entire conversation in Bob Seger lyrics shortly after we started dating, I knew he was the one. We were also able to see Bob Seger in concert together and are both fans of his music. (Plus the name seemed kind of bad ass and rock and roll, so we went with it.) Both of our dads are Michael and we’ve both got uncles named Mike too, so his middle name seemed like a no-brainer.

Eliza is adjusting to being a big sister. The hardest part for her is not being the center of attention! She goes from totally fine to full on melt down mode in an instant, which I blame partly on having less one on one attention and partly on just being two. (As I’m writing this she is trying to avoid a nap because she’s “not tired.” I promise you, she’s exhausted.)

Derrik and I have been doing our best to sleep when we can. I’ve been trying to remind both of us to enjoy this season of life and all of it’s challenges because it isn’t going to be long and they’ll be all grown up.
